LADY BIRD LAKE BOARDWALK
Lady Bird Lake, formerly known as Town Lake, has been a popular destination with outdoor enthusiasts for many years, providing a variety of recreational opportunities while offering a chance to enjoy the vibrant skyline and activities of downtown Austin. However, up until June 2014, a gap in the surrounding trails existed, leaving portions of the south shore of the lake inaccessible.
Altura Solutions was responsible for ensuring ADA compliance of over 7,000 feet of boardwalk, which crosses out over the lake itself, and an ADA accessible pier. The scope of work also included ensuring the construction of an accessible hike and bike trail with related amenities, including handrails, signage, and benches met accessibility compliance standards.
