ELIsABET NEY HISTORIC MUSEUM
Hidden in the popular Hyde Park neighborhood of Austin, Texas, sits a gem known as the Elisabet Ney Museum. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the museum is the former home and studio of the gifted 19th century sculptor, Ms. Elisabet Ney. Serving over 25,000 visitors each year, the museum offers special events, exhibits, educational program, and curriculum-aligned tours for grades K-12, featuring art, history, and science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).
In 2007, the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department created a Master Plan for the Elisabet Ney Museum that included the recreation of a historic prairie landscape, evocative of what Ney experienced, fought for and loved every day of her life in Austin. Part of this plan called for the removal of old, out of code compliance ADA ramps, and the creation of new ramps and pathways, overseen by Altura Solutions.
